The Most Beautiful Places We’ve Explored

Today, I am thrilled to welcome Stephanie, founder of Military Travel Mama, as a guest blogger on FrogMom. She is the wife of a military professional and mother to two children. Her great blog discusses military life, military discounts, family trips, healthy eating, and parenthood. As you’ll see, she’s also traveled a fair bit and lived in many places most of us dream to travel to.

As a traveling military family, we’re lucky to have been to so many spectacular parts of the globe. The more I travel, the more I believe the world is a wide, beautiful place. I have so many memories to look back on both for the places I’ve visited and the places I’ve lived, and it’s hard to rank them in any way.

All travelers know no two destinations are alike. It’s impossible to claim one destination is “better” than any other. That being said, there are some beautiful places that truly took my breath away. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so here are the most beautiful places we’ve explored as a family.

Lisbon

Lisbon, Portugal

Lisbon isn’t one of the most popular destinations in Europe, but it really should be. Often overlooked in favor of bigger cities like Paris and London, Lisbon often is left in the dark when it comes to travel. However, as the capital city of Portugal, Lisbon truly is a magical place.

The city’s pastel buildings rest on rolling hills overlooking the ocean. With beaches, old-world charm, and some of the best museums in Europe, it’s no wonder this is still one of my favorite destinations. There are few cities as naturally beautiful as Lisbon. Plus, the food is great too!

Berlin, Germany

Though Berlin was hit hard in both World War I and World War II, it’s made a massive recovery. Today, it’s the second-most populous city in Europe after London, and it’s made up of lots of unique neighborhood with diverse populations.

What makes Berlin particularly beautiful? For me, it’s the mix of the old and the new. The gorgeous modern buildings mixed in with the impressive structures of the past and a budding art scene makes it such a unique, impactful place.

Berlin

Mallorca, Spain

Mallorca is the largest island in the Balearic Island chain located in the Mediterranean. Unlike other Mediterranean islands like Crete, Mallorca is a bit calmer and has a more relaxing nature. It’s great for all travelers because of its modern technology and healthcare. We’ve realized the latter because when we went there, my husband’s mother with kidney disease has been on that trip with us. We were astounded to find out that there are multiple dialysis centres Mallorca throughout the region.

Why is Mallorca beautiful? This little island has been inhabited since the Neolithic era, and it’s home to some of the richest histories you’ll find in Europe. As a history and culture buff, I can’t think of a more striking place to spend a holiday.

Hong Kong, China

Finally, Hong Kong is another one of the most beautiful places we’ve ever explored. It’s more than just a city. It’s a subtropical paradise made up of over 200 islands. Some are bustling metropolises that you see on the travel guides while others are quiet and remote.

While the touristy parts of the city are worth exploring, once you escape the hustle you’ll be even more amazed. From the smaller parks like Kowloon Park in the middle of the city to the Sai Wan swimming shed at the westernmost tip of Hong Kong Island, this place has so much to see.

Final Thoughts

If you’re planning a trip abroad, why not check out one of these breathtaking sights? While travel is about more than seeing the most beautiful places, these cities above have more to offer than pretty travel photos. They’re culturally exciting in their own right, and the backdrop just makes it all the more worthwhile. Let’s get traveling!
