Wild plum jam recipe

Enjoy the wild tang of summer fruit with this wild plum jam that looks like liquid ruby.

  • 1 kg wild plums (stoned)
  • 900 g sugar
  • 1 lemon (juiced)
  • 50 g almonds (slivered)


  • Combine fruit, sugar and lemon juice in a deep-bottomed pan
  • Place small plate in freezer.
  • Bring to slow boil over low heat.
  • Simmer during 10 to 15 minutes.
  • Check consistency of jam by putting jam drops on the frozen plate. When it slides slowly, the jam is done.
  • Fold almonds in the jam with a wooden spoon.
  • Remove from the heat and let cool before storing in jars.
